"I studied engineering and economics as a Tsinghua undergraduate, which gave me different perspectives and enabled me to learn quickly, which has greatly helped my current career in journalism,” says Ren Gufeng (China), an alumnus from the School of Environment, who currently works as a stocks market reporter in London.

Gufeng was first drawn to journalism through the Tsinghua campus newspaper, and he gradually came to realize his passion for interacting with people, uncovering the truth, and delving deep into stories. After graduation, he pursued a master’s degree at Northwestern University’s Medill School of Journalism, where intensive hands-on practices turned him into a combat-ready reporter.

Now as a stock market reporter in an international newsroom, Gufeng provides timely insights into market reactions and interacts with investors and analysts during big market-moving events. He documents key themes in the investing landscape of hundreds of European and Chinese tech stocks.
